On recommendation from my friends, I re-watched this and was glad I did. On reflection, what I originally saw as a jumbled mess turned out to be a well-crafted roller coaster ride of comedic noir.
What I continue to dislike is the breaking of the fourth wall - Downey's mugging the camera and his too frequent narration.
