There Will Be Blood (2007)

IMDB: There Will Be Blood (2007)

Plot Outline:
A story about family, greed, religion, and oil, centered around a turn-of-the-century prospector in the early days of the business.

Daniel Day-Lewis gives a breathtaking performance in this wonderful film, most definitely the best performance by any actor I've seen this past year.

Paul Dano, previously in Little Miss Sunshine, makes an admirable effort in the role of Eli Sunday as a foil to Day-Lewis's Daniel Plainview, but there's really no doubt throughout the movie who the 500 lb. gorilla is.

The Jonny Greenwood score (Children of Men) while at times evoking nails on blackboard irritation, is nonetheless truly matched to this epic picture.

Rating: 8
